Parbati Pandey a Woman on a Mission

Parbati Pandey is a very special Nepali friend who is committed to protecting the environment. She is an eloquent young person who speaks, writes and photographs things important to her. Well done Parbati !

“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity... and some scarcely see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.”
― William Blake

While the world celebrates #‎worldwaterday, my village in Kavrepalanchowk, Timal suffers from water scarcity then and now. Do you know what it feels like Waking up at 2 am in the morning, traveling a distance of more than 1 hour and still you have to stand in a queue to fill a vessel of 20 litres and carry back through a path that's difficult to walk even without carrying anything with you ?This very stone spout(Harke ko Dhara)has to meet the water demand of 3 wards consisting of nearly 300 households everyday . The people have to carry the water even for their cattle, not to mention the demand for household purpose.

The main problem is the place do not have other water sources nearby and that is feasible. People have made artificial ponds, constructed a storage tanks in their homes where they collect rainwater but alas! People have not witnessed rain for quite long and the condition is tougher in the drier months.

 • This year at December head of more than 190 states are gathering at Paris to attend UN Climate Conference which is one of the biggest international summit. Because of global warming, temperature is increasing. We Nepalese are badly affected by the impact of the climate change but we are not so responsible for global warming. So, it’s a time to warm the talk for global climate agreement not to warm the Earth. Let’s power the Paris together for Climate Justice..

 • This is the same school we went to, some three years ago with hundreds of books we had collected. While giving a speech there, I had said, "May your school have much more sophisticated infrastructure, and 100% result in coming years." Though, I haven't been able to return there again, I am deeply glad to know it has prospered! And more glad that students likeParbati Pandey are coming out from there! This is true Happiness!
 • Reliving the childhood memories, I wouldn't have imagined this as the same place where I along with many other students used to sit in wooden logs in dusty floor of the classroom putting the books and copies on our laps . I remember us sweeping , collecting cow dungs and water to plaster the floors all by ourselves so that our clothes would be clean enough to wear it the next day.

The school now has sophisticated(comparatively) rooms and infrastructures . The school now runs classes up to grade 10.I am thankful to everyone who made this possible . And still a lot of work has to be done and quality of education is one of most important priority now.
